Travel Writing: How to Make Money Blogging About Your Travels

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009
Money For Traveling

Have you ever wanted to travel the world and make money for sharing your adventures with the world? Using the web and a simple blog, this couldn’t be easier. There are just a few simple, yet hidden techniques for making a healthy income for blogging about your travels.

In fact, the number of underground travelers who hold no jobs, yet make cash for writing about their  travels is growing by the day. We keep our mouths shut about our techniques as we visit worldwide destinations and get paid for telling the world about it. I know there have got to be great people out there who deserve to travel and want this information, so I’ve decided to share a few of our techniques:

1)   Own Your Blog. Sites like Blogger, Myspace, and BlogSpot are no good for our purposes, because you can’t tweak the site to make a profit very easily. Instead, if you buy a domain for 10 bucks and then install Wordpress, you now have the platform to make it extremely profitable.

2)    Utilize PPC (pay-per-click) to get started. You won’t make a massive income off of this right away, but you can easily make 5-10 bucks a day in the beginning. That may not sound like a lot… but it’s enough for a meal every day or a flight after a month, and the number only gets bigger as your blog grows in readership.

3)    Collect names and email addresses.
You want to do this so that you can bring your readers back to your blog. Very few people ‘bookmark’ a site any longer, but if you email your readers every time you post a new article, you will grow your readership at an exponential rate.

4)    Offer an RSS (Real Simple Syndication) subscriptions. Don’t let this intimidate you. Setting this up is as simple as checking a box on your blog’s options. RSS is another way for your readers to keep up-to-date with your blog. Insead of you emailing them, their RSS reader of choice will automatically show them the newly posted content. The more they see your content, the better chance they’ll click on an ad (and therefore, the better chance you’ll get paid)

5)    Sell a product that will interest your readers. Once you are up and running, you will see your readership growing as well. Now it’s time to really monetize your site. This is where affiliate marketing comes in. This is simply taking a commission for any customer you send to another product (considering they buy the product). So, every now and again, make a blog post about the affiliate product you are promoting. When your readers see this, those who are interested will click on your ‘affiliate link,’ and if they buy, you get paid. Easy as that. Becoming an affiliate is always free, and there are thousands of products begging for active affiliates.

By the way, affiliate commissions are typically 50% to 75%. Gigantic, and very profitable.

6)    Create your own product.
The only problem with affiliate marketing is that the product is completely out of your control and you only take a part of the cut. Once you have a bunch of blog posts, you can bundle them together and make an ‘ebook.’ Sell this to your loyal readers, and you’ll be surprised at how many of them will pay for the content they’re getting for free anyway!

There are bloggers out there who are making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for writing about their passions. My instincts tell me you’d be happy with a few hundred or thousand dollars extra per week, so start taking action on these ideas. They’re not complicated, they just require action. The best part is, once they’re set up, they can all be automated and can take place without your presence!

Small Business Tips for Saving Money in the New Year

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009
Kristin Gabriel

Maintaining a successful business means keeping accurate and timely financial information, Why?Because a clear financial picture will allow you to monitor your business.

Make sure that you also keep all your records like canceled checks and other business documents in a safe place. Put your receipts in the proper categories throughout the year so it would be easier to total them at year’s end for tax purposes. You are not required to keep records in a formal set of books so make sure you choose the best record keeping system, which is one that works best for you.

As you might not always get paid right away for a product or service that you have already delivered. Today it is harder than ever before to secure alternative financing through banks or venture capitalists. So the bottom like is that accounts receivable factoring could help.

Factoring is an extremely fast way to turn your receivables into cashrather than waiting up to 90 days for an invoice to be paid. Following are some other money saving tips:

1. Take a look at all work expenses. Rather than eating in restaurants every single day for lunch, and getting that latte at 11 am and 4pm, bring your lunch to work from home often to save money, plus it is probably healthier. If possible, commute to work with other employees to save money on gas.

2. Do not purchase lottery tickets. Recreational money taking activities, including gambling, must be stopped.

3. Cut back on any incidentals. Read through one of your credit-card statements and review those monthly fees. Cut back on dry cleaning and cancel any club memberships you don’t use. Magazines often just stack up so cancel unused subscriptions.

4. Begin to save money. Review your saving habits, and if you have not saved much then set aside a reasonable amount you could look at like it is just another monthly bill. Start saving and keep at least $10k in your savings account for emergencies.

5. Draw up a Savings Plan. Think about reaching a specific savings goal so that after that your savings money could become automatic contributions to a mutual fund or other stock-oriented fund.

6. Iliminate credit-card debt. Pay the balance of any credit cards on time and in full each month. Or transfer your credit-card balances to one single card with a lower interest rate as soon as possible.

7. Don’t get late fees. If your credit-card bill is regularly due before you’ve received your paycheck you may be getting hit with extra finance charges? Call the credit-card company and ask to change the due date.

8. Set up or contribute to retirement fund. Contribute as much as you can to a tax-deferred retirement plan. You’ll get a tax break, and some employers match part of your contribution.

9. Review your estate plan. Now is the time to do it, but if you already have these documents, just update them.

10. Think about invoice factoring for much needed cash. After the holidays and New Year begins, some people find themselves broke. Single invoice factoring could enable you to receive funds in less than 24 hours.

Have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Internet Website Business – Tips on Branding for Success

What helps my product stand out from the others? Every internet website business can use tips on branding for success. To have your business instantly recognized through your logo, product design and stellar reputation is priceless to the future of your company and growing profits.

Identify Your Brand - You will have to decide what your brand will be. Is it your logo? Maybe it’s your business name, domain name or even your name. Oprah, for instance, is a brand well beyond her talk shows or movies. With focus and effort, you can create the same type of powerful identification.

Promote - Make sure you get your name every where you can. Instant recognition for your internet website business means branding for success. Reach out to the on and off line community. Volunteer services or donate to good causes. Anything you can do to present a positive image that stands out can only help reinforce the brand credintials.

Protect – Give your brand birthing the most respect. Don’t let your reputation be tarnished through malicious rumors. Ensure your company keeps promises. Keep your customers satisfied. Be sure your service or product is not associated with shady or unethical ties.

The lack of true branding online is hurting many otherwise good companies. Your internet website business will need to focus on branding for success if you plan on keeping a serious impression in the future. Once you have a good strategy in motion, guard your creation as if your business depended on it. It does.

Improve your Mix of Offerings to Add Profits

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
Donald Mitchell

Most businesses think about selling more items or services. Why not?

Done effectively, selling or providing more of what you already offer can be a big help in creating efficiencies. But sometimes you are serving virtually all of someone’s needs for those items.

The application to a for-profit organization is obvious. What else can you profitably sell or provide at a fair price with desirable qualities and service that the customers you already have want to buy? The advent of the Internet makes this evaluation much more potentially rewarding because postal, air freight, and electronic delivery choices enable you to serve most of the world with your added offerings.

This for-profit challenge requires considering the potential volume and the effects on overhead costs and profit contribution margins. Example 1 shows the profit effect that a positive change in volume can make when you grow through more profitable items that do not increase overhead costs very much.

Example 1: Adding More Profitable Items to Expand Revenues Without Increasing Overhead Costs as Rapidly Further Speeds Profit Growth

This example shows the profit multiplying potential of increasing profit contribution margins from 30 percent to 40 percent while decreasing corporate overhead costs from 20 percent to 3 percent of revenues. The result is a 7,700 percent profit solution. If revenues could be expanded even more, a 40,000% improvement (a 2,000 percent squared improvement) would result.

Annual Pro Forma Financials Before Volume Expands

Revenues $1,000,000

Cost of providing offerings $ 700,000

Profit contribution $ 300,000

Corporate overhead cost $200,000

Pretax profit $100,000

20 Times Volume Increase with Higher Profit Contribution Products and Limited Additional Overhead Expenses

Revenues $21,000,000

Cost of providing offerings $ 12,600,000

Profit contribution $ 8,400,000

Corporate overhead cost $ 600,000

Pretax profit $ 7,800,000

The challenge in making such a change is to focus on both higher profit contribution offerings and keeping overhead and operating costs low. The profit-harming mistake that many make is to only look at the contribution percentage. When that happens, the gains in profitability may be eaten up by new costs to deliver the added offerings that more than offset the profit contribution of those offerings. Exhibit 2 quantifies that point.

Example 2: Adding More Profitable Items to Expand Revenues Hurts Profits When Overhead and Waste Costs Grow Too Rapidly

The potential profit gains from higher profit contribution percentages (going from 30 percent to 40 percent in this example) can be more than offset if waste and overhead costs grow too rapidly in providing required items. Perishable, high-tech, and fashion items often have this problem as time causes value to decline, resulting in waste or markdown charges. Higher profit contribution offerings are likely to increase the administration and service costs that support them.

Annual Pro Forma Financials Before Volume Expands

Revenues $1,000,000

Cost of providing offerings $ 700,000

Profit contribution $ 300,000

Corporate overhead cost $200,000

Pretax profit $100,000

20 Times Volume Increase with Higher Profit Contribution Items and Faster Growth in Overhead and Waste Expenses

Revenues $21,000,000

Cost of providing offerings $12,600,000

Profit contribution $8,400,000

Added waste and markdowns $3,150,000

Corporate overhead cost $5,200,000

Pretax profit $50,000

How can these mistakes be avoided? Begin with small experiments where you can measure the increases in volume, profit contribution, and costs before committing to a major change in your business model.

Would You Like to Resell Mexican Products for Great Profits ? Would You like to feel what’s it like to have excellent profit margins as a retail merchant or wholesale distributor ?

Mexican products have become big sellers in every country of the world. The total value of Mexican products that are imported into the US alone exceeds the billion dollar mark by far.

Thanks to their low cost, quality and uniqueness, most Mexican products can be resold for high profits. It’s not uncommon for American and European traders dealing in Mexican art, paintings, silver or exotic leather to harvest handsome profit margins that in many cases exceed a 100% markup when they buy from the right suppliers.

Business Fact #1: There is no such thing as Free Lunch .-

Thanks to the Internet it might seem that finding low cost suppliers of profitable and fast moving Mexican products is an easy task, but it really isn’t. The vast majority of the “suppliers” you find on the web are American companies or individuals that are basically reselling Mexican products at high margins. The truth is that with them as your sources you won’t even get close to having the best possible wholesale prices.

To make fat JUICY profits in the import / export business you definitely MUST get in touch with the real - hard - to - find - low - cost - sources. There is simply no other way to make it BIG in this business. You NEED the Low cost SOURCES. Period. The cheaper you buy, the more competitive and profitable you get.

The problem is that discovering REAL low cost sources can be a difficult, time consuming and expensive mission. Some information providers on the web are charging $30 per manufacturer profile, while others can charge you more than $1000 per business directory, or even a subscription fee to access their trade leads database. But who do you think is listed on their databases? The Mexican manufacturers? or just another reseller eager to sell at a nice profit? Exactly!. Those trade leads databases are mainly filled with lists and lists of intermediaries and marketers that want to make money reselling the product for a heavy profit.

At Mexico-Store.com you can get access TODAY to these AUTHENTIC, UPDATED & BUSINESS SAVVY sources of information:

1- The Mexican Rustic Handcrafts Manufacturers Directory

2- The Mexican Taxco Silver Jewelry Manufacturers Directory, and

3- The Mexican Leather Products Manufacturers Directory

4- The Business Guide On How to Re-Sell your Mexican Products

It’s all about the profits. YOUR Profits! at Mexico-Store.com ..-

Don’t get us wrong. We don’t have any problem with being a reseller of Mexican products. It’s totally legal and very PROFITABLE. But being a reseller your self, wouldn’t it be better if you could cut the extra middleman and offer a better price to your customers ?

Avoid those expensive resellers and get in touch with the real Mexican manufacturers today ! .-

We provide you with all the necessary contact information including email and websites.

Some of these silver jewelry, handcrafts and leather products manufacturers do have a website. But that doesn’t mean you can easily find them on the search engines. As we all know, its very hard to make it to the top of the search engine rankings and it can take more than 6 months to even get a website listed with them. That and the fact that most Mexican artisans are not as computer savvy as “we all think” are the main reason why you won’t find that many websites at all of Mexican manufacturers listed on Google or Yahoo. In many cases their websites are not even optimized for the search engines to list them.

Don’t expect to get the best possible prices from those Mexican products “providers” that you can find on the web for free .-

Most of the guys and companies that are ranking at the top of the search engine results are basically American companies that are reselling Mexican products. So don’t expect to get the best possible prices from them. Don’t kid your self. Marketers and other middlemen exist to make a profit. Everybody knows that. It’s impossible for an intermediary to sell you at a manufacturer’s low price. It’s against their business model.

The only way you are going to make BIG cash is by dealing direct with Mexican sources. Get our updated Mexico trade directories and start getting incredible low prices per silver gram or per handcrafted product that you can easily resell twice as much or translate into GREATER profit margins for your self.
